THE PROJECT
MG reached out to Nebbia to collaborate on a solution that would assist the company’s sales representatives in the sales process.
JMG manufactures electric self-propelled cranes and has made innovation its strong point. However, the advantages of JMG’s products are not yet fully known in the market, even among industry professionals.
Therefore, a solution was needed to initially convey all the benefits of electric cranes, especially within workspaces, and secondly, to highlight the level of customization. Brochures were no longer sufficient to achieve these objectives.
We studied and developed an augmented reality application for iPad, made available to JMG’s sales force. One year after its adoption, the company reduced brochures by 100% and significantly increased sales.
METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH
This project actively involved various departments within Nebbia. The graphic design department adopted a fast-prototyping approach for designing the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), working closely with JMG’s sales team.
The focus was on an intuitive and user-friendly solution suitable for both JMG’s sales representatives and their end customers.
The corporate identity had to be clearly visible, but it was also necessary to highlight the company’s commitment to innovation through the UI. With these considerations in mind, new icons were created to reflect this trend.
Our 3D specialists collaborated closely with JMG’s technical department, analyzing and deepening their understanding of electric cranes. In synergy with the technical team, the right simplification of the 3D models necessary for mobile application management was determined. After a series of initial tests, a workflow was established for refining the 3D models, an agile and proven process that allowed for the rapid integration of a variety of cranes and their respective variants.
CODING
In this process, developers were immediately involved to ensure that design choices did not conflict with the application’s implementation. After exporting the models along with their textures and technical specifications, the developers integrated them into the application created by Nebbia using Unity.
